Stephen "Static Major" Garrett
1976-2008


ASCAP writer/producer/artist, Stephen "Static Major" Garrett unexpectedly passed away February 25th, 2008 in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky from causes yet to be determined. The gifted singer/songwriter/producer was a member of the R&B trio Playa, and along with close friend Timbaland, penned monster hits such as Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody", Ginuwine's "Pony". Garrett also wrote for Jay-Z and Pretty Ricky, and had songs placed on several soundtracks.

Having made such a profound impact behind the scenes, Garrett was in the process of releasing his first solo album, Suppertime on Blackground Records.
