THE ASCAP FOUNDATION ENDORSES HEINEKEN GREEN RIBBON INITIATIVE TO BENEFIT CELIA CRUZ FOUNDATION

ASCAP Foundation

In a statement released today, Marilyn Bergman, president of The ASCAP Foundation, announced The ASCAP Foundation’s endorsement of Heineken USA’s Green Ribbon Initiative, which benefits the Celia Cruz Foundation, and is designed to raise awareness and funds for music education programs in communities across the country.

As part of the initiative, Heineken will design a special green ribbon, and members of the media, celebrities and others attending this year’s Latin GRAMMY® Awards, set for September 3rd in Miami, are encouraged to wear the green ribbon to highlight the need to support music education programs. In turn, Heienken will make a special donation to the Celia Cruz Foundation on behalf of all those who wear the green ribbon.

“Celia Cruz was a passionate supporter of music education programs in the Latin community,” says Marilyn Bergman. “Because of The ASCAP Foundation’s similiar commitment to support the development of music creators through educational programs, I encourage the music community and, in particular ASCAP’s Latin GRAMMY nominees, to support this noteworthy cause by proudly wearing the special green ribbon.”

ASCAP’s Latin GRAMMY nominees include Sergio George, Rubén Blades, Olga Tañón, Ednita Nazario, Enrique Iglesias, Ilegales, Tego Calderón, El General, Vico C, Maná, Víctor Manuelle, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Grupo Manía, Los Hermanos Rosario, Kinito Méndez, Ramón Emilio Rojo (Monchy y Alexandra), Jorge Fdo. Rodríguez, Iván Acosta, Philip Martínez (Pipo), Gary Núñez-Plena Libre, Jorge Luis Piloto, Joan Sebastian, Emilio Navaira, Los Terribles Del Norte, Alicia Villarreal, David Oquendo, and Patty Cabrera.
