ASCAP ROCKS CMJ

Reptar Interview and Performance

Reptar Interview and Performance
ASCAP snagged a few moments in the green room with featured band Reptar to talk about how they came to join ASCAP, their dance moves...and more about their dance moves. These guys really like to dance.

Tribeca's Canal Room filled up early and stayed packed throughout the evening on Wednesday, October 20, at ASCAP's CMJ Music Marathon showcase. The night featured a dynamic range of bands representing both sides of the Atlantic.

Non-Commissioned Officers, fronted by brothers Eric and Jordan Lehning from Nashville, proved that Music City is also breeding ground for some of today's more provocative rock. Scotland's The Xcerts whipped up a fierce maelstrom of melodic, punkish metal. LA's Grouplove delivered a set of joyous roots rock. Good Old War, from Philadelphia, played acoustic folk songs with a primal urgency that gave their roots music real heat and passion. Reptar, from Athens, GA, played a captivating set that infectiously mixed (in their words) Disco House, Breakcore and Afro-beat. Closing the night with a powerful performance were Hacienda from San Antonio, TX and their snarling mix of Mexican and American rock sounds.

On Thursday, October 21, ASCAP and Paste Magazine co-sponsored an afternoon CMJ showcase at The Living Room featuring an eclectic lineup of performers. Among the performers were Living Days, The Howlies, The Beauties, Ferraby Liionheart, The Kopecky Family Band and Fake Problems.
