"On the Come Up" talks with producer and Hip Hop artist, Jay Electronica, about his magnetic force on the music industry.
What inspires you?
Jay Electronica: I'm inspired by numerous things and, sometimes, I'm inspired by absolutely nothing.
What are you working on, currently?
Jay: I'm finishing my mixtape, Act II, and working on an album.
Where are you from, originally?
Jay: I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Who is your musical mentor and why?
Jay: My musical mentors are Denaun Porter, Mike Chavarria, Just Blaze, and Andy Dufresne. They taught me the most about the theory of music.
What was your first introduction into the music industry?
Jay: My first introduction was through DJ Sol Messiah from Atlanta, GA. He was the first person to have me interacting with industry insiders. I expect to change the music industry in a way that puts music and the direction of it back into the hands and minds of the people.
