Wilco’s second annual Solid Sound Music and Arts Festival, held at MASS MoCa in North Adams, Massachussetts on June 24-26, featured a host of ASCAP artists, including The Levon Helm Band, The Autumn Defense, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, Nels Cline and many more.
ASCAP partnered again this spring with the Film Division at Columbia University for the fourth year of the ASCAP/Columbia University Film Scoring Workshop. The program is taught by Alex Steyermark, the director of One Last Thing, Prey for Rock and Roll and music supervisor for directors Ang Lee and Spike Lee.
Four 15 to 30-minute short films were selected, as was the Columbia University Film Festival Trailer. All were scored by ASCAP composers as Steyermark guided the filmmakers through the film scoring process.
All five composers recorded their scores with a 15-piece ensemble at NYC's Avatar Studios. The films were screened, along with many other student films, at the annual Columbia University Film Festival (CUFF) this May in New York and Los Angeles.
This year's films were:
