Building on the Success of Ben's Brother's Debut

October 22, 2009

Ben's Brother

London-born Jamie Hartman is literally Ben's Brother, making the name for his musical project both tongue-in-cheek and perfectly fitting. Hartman's debut album as Ben's Brother, Beta Male Fairytales won the hearts of UK critics and fans immediately with Hartman's heartfelt vocal and lyrical delivery. In the UK, the album went gold, with the respective singles earning top 10 airplay positions and a prestigious Ivor Novello nomination. This year, Hartman released the followup to Beta Male Fairytales, Battling Giants, an optimistic album that comments on the state of the modern music industry and the world. Hartman gets his firsthand perspective of how the industry has changed from the semi-collapse of his label, EMI, and the resulting self-release of Battling Giants on his own label Flat Cap Records. Hartman was joined by heavyweights Jason Mraz and Joss Stone for tracks on Battling Giants, as well as Natalie Imbruglia, who wrote the album's first single, "Apologise." The single drew the attention of Island Records, who stepped in to release the single worldwide. Battling Giants continues to build on the remarkable success of Ben's Brother's debut album, bringing the talented songwriter and performer to an international audience.
