In an age of child prodigy pop stars that all seem to be veterans of the Star Search stage, Steve Ward's story is quite refreshing.

Steve didn't pick up the guitar until he was a senior in high school. However, within a short amount of time, his after-school hobby turned into a passion that has carried his infectious pop sound far beyond the city limits of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He garnered international recognition as the leader of the pop group Cherry Twister. The band quickly made their mark on the international underground scene. Recorded in Steve's home studio, Cherry Twister's debut album, "At Home With Cherry Twister," (When!/Castle) was released in 1999. The album's initial pressing sold out almost immediately.

As with many things in life, Steve found that the more he worked on his craft, the better it became. The Cherry Twister experience continued to fuel his drive as a musician and led him to the material on his solo project, "Opening Night." Released in 2000 on Lucky Records, this album took Steve's pop sound to a whole new level of delivery and emotion.

In creating his distinctive mark, Steve sought to learn from great producers that he not only admired, but also respected. With this, he found his writing got better. He believes his sound evolved as he began to use more interesting chords and stacked vocal harmonies, thus creating a denser sound in production. A self-taught producer, Steve had the luxury of working at his own pace in his home studio.

Through continuous performances, Steve's stage presence became stronger and the demand for his music grew. On his journey, he has found inspiration from many songwriters, including Elliott Smith, Aimee Mann, Michael Penn and The Beatles. Like those who came before him, Steve has found his niche. And, living for artistic based goals and simple melodies, Steve Ward is definitely leaving an indelible print on the minds of all who experience his music.
