Over a thousand
top industry executives, visionaries, filmmakers, producers, directors,
A&R, managers, casting directors, talent directors, agents and
performing artists gathered for three days of panels, workshops
and showcases dedicated to help both artists and industry secure
the promotion, access and contacts they truly need to succeed. The
event took place at Le Bar Bat in New York City on February 28,
March 1 and 2nd.

Chief of Staff Bill Thomas took part in a panel on Saturday,
March 1 regarding The Future of Music
Publishing and discussed “How publishers are
helping artists secure deals? How publishers are helping writers
to secure song cuts?” The panel also featured Bill Brown,
SONY Music, Marcia Rosenberg, EMI Music Publishing; Bob Cutarella,
Roy Elkins, Broadjam.com, Frank Liwall, Royalty Network; Marcy Rauer
Wagman, Esq.
Later in the
day, Todd Brabec, ASCAP Executive VP/Membership,
and Jeff Brabec, VP of Business Affairs, The Chrysalis
Music Group, co-authors of the book, Music, Money and Success:
The Insider's Guide to Making Money in the Music Industry,
presented a panel entitled Music,
Money, Success and the Movies: The Basics of "Music In Film"
Deals. The panel discussed the money, contracts
and considerations involved in the licensing of pre-existing songs
in films; songs written specifically for a film; and the underscore.
