Slideshow

Casxio at Canal Room

ASCAP presented a fun, funky and festive CMJ showcase on Thursday night, October 22nd at the Canal Room in Manhattan. From the electro-lounge sounds of Lana Del Ray to the pogo pop attack of Casxio to the psychedelic roots rave-up of The Constellations, this year's line-up was a diverse and dynamic representation of some of the best emerging artists making music today. Other performers and bands on the bill included Your Nature, Bobby Long and The Postmarks.

At other CMJ events, ASCAP joined forces with The Syndicate for a CMJ kick-off party; Playback Editor in Chief Erik Philbrook moderated a panel, "The Path of a Hit Song," featuring industry experts; ASCAP and Paste Magazine co-hosted an afternoon showcase at the Living Room featuring Julia Haltigan and the Hooligans, The Rocket Boys, John Forte and My Jerusalem; and ASCAP sponsored a Deli Magazine 20th issue launch party at Webster Hall featuring The Protomen, Mon Khmer, Rumspringa, Savoir Adore, ZAZA and Anamanguchi.

J.D. Souther, who was honored on Monday, October 19 with the ASCAP Golden Note Award at the ASCAP Country Music Awards in Nashville, performed a special showcase at the Living Room, giving the audience a taste of his classics as well as his new material.

ASCAP's own events joined with powerful performances by hundreds of ASCAP bands and songwriters throughout New York City, such as those by Fool's Gold and These United States, to demonstrate the strength and vitality of today's rising talents in live music.
