concert music and his love for popular music,
make him a distinctive and versatile composer.
ASCAP honors him for being awarded the 2004 OSCAR
and Golden Globe for the Best Original Score for
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

BANG ON A CAN
Founded in 1987 as a day-long marathon, Bang on
a Can has become a year-round organization and
a major international force in the presentation
of new music. Co-founders, co-artistic directors
and ASCAP composers Julia Wolfe, David Lang and
Michael Gordon have earned the 2004 ASCAP Victor
Herbert Award for their disinguished service to
American music.

ZANKEL HALL AT CARNEGIE
ASCAP commemorates the exciting inauguaral season
of Zankel Hall. We mourn the passing of the late
Robert Harth, who together with Ara Guzelimian,
made the dream of the third Carnegie presenting
space a reality. |
