ASCAP at the 6th Annual Billboard
R&B/Hip-Hop Conference and Awards

ASCAP Slideshow

A standing-room-only crowd gathered at ASCAP's Super Producers panel on August 4th at the InterContinental Hotel to listen to some of today's hottest producers/songwriters — Timbaland, Johnta Austin, Warryn Campbell, Anthony Dent, Dre & Vidal, and Bryan-Michael Cox — share their perspectives on topics such as the state of the industry, how to break into and stay in the business, and what's ahead musically.  V-103 Morning Personality Greg Street moderated the panel session, which was one of the highlights of the 6th Annual Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Conference & Awards, held for the first time in Atlanta from August 3-5, 2005.

The Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Conference & Awards brings together music professionals that help to create, produce, promote and distribute the hottest genre on the charts today. Attendees include over 700 industry players including agents, artists, managers, producers, press and record label executives. The three-day event is packed with conference sessions, artist showcases, networking opportunities and, of course, the awards program.

ASCAP Members Dominate the Awards Show
The Awards Show, held at Compound, honored R&B and Hip-Hop's most popular albums, songs, artists, and contributors, as determined by the actual sales and radio airplay data that informs Billboard's weekly charts. ASCAP members Usher and 50 Cent took home the most awards, winning three honors each. Alicia Keys won two awards including the Top Songwriter award. Additionally, Chaka Khan and A Tribe Called Quest were honored with Founders Awards for being pioneering artists.
