Local Songwriting collaborators, Robbie Odom, Kevin Davis and Jon Wesley were awarded a $3,500 R&B grant by The Heineken Music Initiative/The ASCAP Foundation
ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Creative team packed the house during another successful installment of their exclusive SWAPmeet series. The event took place at The Gig in Hollywood and was hosted by The Poetess from KKBT's The Beat 100.3.
The club was filled with writers, producers, artists and lyricists eager to develop collaborations, play music and mix with A&R reps, music publishers and other music industry professionals.
A highlight at the event was a special presentation of $3,500 to the Los Angeles recipients of The Heineken Music Initiative/The ASCAP Foundation R&B Grant program.
Created in March 2002, the program is designed to assist emerging R&B songwriters in key music markets across the country (New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago and Miami).
Songwriting collaborators Robbie Odom, Kevin Davis and Jon Wesley, were selected for their winning song "Special Lady," which was played during the event -- and was a smash with the audience.
